By inquiring my project and analyzing opportunities I realized that I should improve my knowledge luggage of medicine. That was clear that I don’t want to be a practitioner and to devote six years of my lifetime for this occupation would be quite difficult. Therefore with my situation I asked for advice in Riga Stradins University. I called the information room and explained my situation. I don’t know at which point the girl I was talking with misunderstood me, but as a result was that she advised to me to go to the residential seminar which will be held after a month. As at that time I didn’t have a lot of understanding in procedures of medical education system, I assumed that it will definitely be a seminar on certain area.

Passed the month and I stood in the hallway of university with a notebook and together with about sixty new doctors. At that moment when at the entrance I had to register and advert the university which I’m graduated and education I’ve acquired, I realized that something here will not be as planned. Therefore I asked to the girl which was organizing the gathering of signatures to tell me more details about this seminar. As it turned out it was a seminar for the students who have already got or presently will get a medical diploma to choose the specialization they would study further. And well, I concluded that if I had already come then probably I have to be here. In the list of participants – doctors I signed and wrote education (engineer of quality control) too. Then I went inside in a big lecture-room. It was very interesting to hear about the internal procedures of university and opportunities for students. So that’s how I spent two hours there, listening the seminar and questions of students about themes that’s interesting for themselves. At the end of everything there was a chance to get a personally talk with Assoc. Prof. Jevgēnija Livdāne, what I was seizing. I joined to the queue as the last one because I understood that my question definitely will unsettle the average agenda of this pleasant madam. Well, it was finally my turn and I began to recite about the research I’m going to conduct. Till at one point Mrs. Livdāne says „Stop.” My heart seemed to stop and I already was going to get the information that this is not the right place for me, but no, madam told „ this specific thing we could discuss in my cabinet.” I did a serious face, albeit in my internal world I was jumping of the excitement, and followed to her shown direction. Cabinet wasn’t very big as usual for professors but there was a sweet sense of coziness. We sat down at the table and began to discuss my plans and what would be my opportunities. Unfortunately, in the given moment as I didn’t want to be a doctor and the time of entrance was over, Mrs. Livdāne couldn’t to recommend for me anything regarding of studies so we focused on the research. She suggested arranging a visit in territory of P. Stradins university hospital located laboratory of stem cells which is specializing in this type of researches. And there in Stradins is a department of biology too which would also be advisable to visit.

So word-by-word and we had already talking more than an hour. By taking a leave I shook Mrs. Livdāne hand and went to home. Although initially couldn’t understand is this seminar for me and is it worth to go to it at all. At the end I got the very good information and one important contact I could turn to if it will be necessary.
